TrippHammer Forging Philosophy
Form follows function. If a tool works well (function) then it has been well formed. There is nothing more beautiful then a well designed and executed tool. The tool designs which have persisted throughout history have done so because they function well. A blacksmith's crosspein hammer is the perfect tool for forging. Each smith forges his hammer to look differently but the balance, weight, and working faces of the tool vary only slightly. Viking hammers unearthed in archaeological digs bear a striking resemblance to modern crosspein hammers.
